Patrick qualified from King’s College Hospital in 1985 to become a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. In 1989 he gained full membership of the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine, and in 1999 achieved full membership of the Manipulation Association of Chartered Physiotherapists. Now he is a superintendent physiotherapist who joined the Hip Unit 3 years ago. His main role involves managing research trials using a technique known as RSA. This is a technique that allows very accurate measurements to be taken of hip replacement components. Exeter is one of only a few centres in the UK that examine their patients in this way. He also works as an orthopaedic assistant and undertakes clinics for the surgeons- in particular seeing patients for follow-up evaluation after hip replacement."
