Robert Steele graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School, MelbourneAustralia in1994. After completion of basic surgical training at the RoyalMelbourneHospital he undertook a period of teaching at the University of Melbourne Anatomy Department followed by a position as a Junior Faculty at the University of Stanford, California U.S.A.in 1998.
Upon return to Australia, he entered the advanced surgical training programme in Orthopaedics and trauma in Victoria. This he completed in 2003 and following this he held Visitng specialist posts at the Monash Medical Centre, DandenongHospital, The Western Hospital, Bendigo and FrankstonHospitals.
To further develop his interest in lower limb reconstruction and arthroplasty he took up the Hip research Fellowship in Exeter in January 2005 and will continue this interest with later fellowships in lower limb arthroplasty in Bath, Bristol and Oxford over the next 18 months.
