Patient Information Medical Professionals What's New About us Exeter Team   •			Home >> About us >> Exeter Team >> Past Fellows >> Mr E Tsiridis Eleftherios Tsiridis was born in 1968 and qualified in medicine (M.D.) with honours from University of Athens in 1992. He then joined the Greek Army Special Forces for two years compulsory service and in 1994 entered the specialist-training programme in Orthopaedics in Athens. In 1996 he moved to the UK for continuation and completion of his training. He gained the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (Ed.) in 1999 and he then joined Stanmore and affiliated Hospitals in London for his higher training in Orthopaedics. In 2000 he was awarded an M.Sc.(Orth.) from the University of London and in 2004 a Ph.D. from the University of Crete (Greece). He was awarded the ‘A. Onassis’ scholarship in medicine from Greece in 2000 and the BOA/Wishbone travelling fellowship from the British Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003.     In 2003 he undertook a clinical and research fellowship in Orthopaedics at Boston University Medical School in the USA for a year under the supervision of Professor Thomas Einhorn and in 2004 the lower limb reconstruction fellowship in Exeter under Mr. Gie. His clinical research interest focuses on the treatment of periprosthetic femoral fractures. His basic science research interest is on biological aspects of fracture healing including MSCs and BMP-7 and on bone grafting. He is currently the main contributor of 23 peer reviewed Medline papers and 4 book chapters including the current (2005) edition of Rockwood and Green. In July 2005 he was appointed as a Consultant at the St. James’ University Hospital in Leeds and Senior Lecturer at the Leeds University Medical School for Trauma and Orthopaedics with special interest in lower limb arthroplasty/revision and pelvic/acetabular trauma.
